Stones taught me to fly.
Love taught me to cry.
Life taught me to die.
So come on courage, teach me to be shy.
Because it's not hard to fall.
its not hard to grow,
when you know that you just dont know.

fall is here :)

While Long Island is not my number one choice to live, I must say that being here in the fall is quite relaxing. My mother, since I was born, has always taken the time to make our house match the seasons, and this year is no different. Even though I am the only one living in the house out of my four siblings ((at the moment)), she knows that when any of us show up, one of the things that brings us home is the freshly baked pumpkin bread, assortment of freshly baked muffins, and the fall decorations that scatter the house. The fire place has scarcrows, pumpkins, fall fairies, golden ribbons, golden leaves, and fake bristles of trees. Each table has a cloth with autumn decor, and on top are various salt and pepper shakers in shapes of ghosts, acorns, pumpkins, and candles in decorative holders. This year to top off all of these decorations and keep the house more, well homey, I bought some candles - one is Spiced Pumpkin from village candles -and it smells delectable! Upon walking into the room, you are flooded with the scent of pumpkin pie (and who doesnt enjoy that?)... it is within these little details that joy is brought not only to the ones living here, but those who come to visit. Aromas awaken our senses and actually activate chemicals in our brain to respond, and so they arouse us and help us to feel again.

The leaves are changing, the air is fresh, and I wake up chilly and not wanting to get out from under my covers. I look forward to days in the city, and returning home to a nice warm bed, a fireplace, and my doggy.

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." - George Eliot

So, you are an optimist because you think things can always get worse and I am a pessimist because I think they can always get better?

6 things: Joy overload today.

1. Musicians coming together to support eachother :

2.Filming with great people

3. Chocolate Chip Pancakes

4. Malts

5.The Greek Myths existing because the Gods thought people were being douschebags

6. Bookstores

Today was spent enjoying various creative outlets with other artists, and musicians. It was one of those days that you wouldn't trade for an office job that paid more, simply because it just isn't even close to how fulfilling these wonderful oppurtunities are. I was lucky enough to be able to be on a set of a film where not only was the director smart, but he was fun and great to work with. The other actors hilarious and I found that even though this was a "job" it wasn't work - it was collaboration. Glad I got to be a part of it :)

Then I headed over to Banjo Joe's down on Avenue C where my sister was holding a fundraiser for Public Acts of Decency and her caberat that will be put on tomorrow for NYMF. All these musicians came to the open mic, got up there, and did their thing. Each one of them expressed themself in a completely individual and original way. It was a treat to watch them as one by one they not only got up there and poured out some very personal creations, but also supported eachother in doing so. A few of them definitely impressed me, I hope to be hearing more from them in the future :)

Chris and I headed out to eat before it ended because I was ............ absolutely starving. Having not eaten all day ... it was reaching 5pm and I was going to keel over. So we ate at this Cozy Soup n burger place over by astor place where I indulged in Chocolate Chip Pancakes, and a Coffee Malt. per-fect. It was comfort food heaven, which I allowed myself because not only was I very very hungry, but it was also very very cold and windy.

We ended the day at a bookstore in columbus circle, read through the new post-secret book, and relaxed a bit. Being in a bookstore can be overwhelming because I always feel the need to read and listen to everything - but it can also be very calming if I end up finding something to become engrossed in. The latter happened, and it was a nice way to end the night.

what kind of lover are you?

I am a HUGE fan of Dark chocolate, most definitely my favorite. So it was no surprise when I stumbled upon these babies in the supermarket the other day I had to get them.

I have to say I was super excited to try them (after putting them in the refrigerator for a bit - of course) so I was quite disappointed when I bit into them and found that the dark chocolate cocoa just did not compliment the peanut butter as well as the classic milk chocolate. I think this is the first dark chocolate delicacy (yes, reeses IS a delicacy) I have tried that I haven't enjoyed.

Ah, well, there is nothing like the classic :)

Reeses, always something that can bring a little joy.

So ....

Remain Healthy, and Happy :)

quick! remember who you are

"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not"

A very appropriate quote for the week I have been having, and an awesome little reminder that could not have come at a better time that shed's light on why I think I succeed and fail at certain things.

With a deep breath, I accept and move on. This quote was the little gift for me today because it brought things back into perspective.

perspective check

I saw this movie yesterday; here's the trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfUZND486Ik

and here are some clips:

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Invention-Of-Lying-Clips-Ricky-Gervais-Takes-It-On-The-Chin-14777.html

I went in with a completely different idea of what this movie would be like, and I got a really wonderful surprise.

It had really great funny moments, but much of it was an underlying mixture of social/religious/psychological commentary that I thought was brought about by the characters really well. It kept its humor, but made some pretty direct points - I have to say it lost its flow at some points and {{ for me}} got even emotional, and upsetting.

But then again, I can cry at a home make-over show.

I suggest seeing it :) Jennifer Garner and Ricky Gervais are wonderful.

pure.

I came across her music today on Pandora.
I did a little search and found that she is my age, which interested me even more.
A little more searching ...

.... she recorded professionally at the age of 12
.....debuted an album at 16, it went straight to the top 10 pop in 11 countries

this is all wonderful, then I read she is UNICEF's youngest Embassador - and that made me really happy - she has worked with children in ghana, and helps raise money for them.

Her voice is so pure and easy to listen to :)

it was a nice discovery.

to a new day ...

Les Stroud.
Catching his show today as I wake up, I'm reminded of how much I -[DONT]- know.
Its been a habit of mine since I began college to wake up everyday and ask myself - what can I learn today? Although, I have always been naturally curious and analytical as my education grew so did my ways of thinking about and discovering everything. It's a natural thing, almost unconscious; but everyday I search for new and interesting ideas and facts that I didn't know before. This became increasingly more inherent within me as I began researching in college for various psychology papers, acting assignments etc. Constantly being asked to embody others' mindsets, to understand different worlds and cultures, to accept without judgement - or over judgement - a critical eye is always an important element in learning - and to just open my mind to new things everyday.
Being that today is 9/11, the idea of survival in a crisis situation has been resonating with me all day. It makes you wonder how equipped you are to survive a crisis, or emergency.
Anyway, keep searching ...
stay happy and healthy
and remember all those today on 9/11

A delicious way to start -(or end)- your day. Today I discovered Bear-Naked's all natural cereal. mmmmmmmm. It will officially be on my list of everyday foods, now that I have more time to concentrate on what I put into my body -- I'm trying to find new, tasty products that are good for you.

But! the best part is that when I went to the Bear-Naked website to check out their products and statement, I found that the two creators of the company had such an interesting story on how it all began .... I highly suggest taking a peek into their work ... http://www.bearnaked.com/

Thusfar, my favorite is Banana-Nut, but I cannot wait to try the cinnamon with strawberries :)

What a wonderful little joy.

Stay healthy and happy

a newfound outlet

hi :)

Since graduating college, I have had more time on my hands, and needed to find a new creative outlet. I have always been too busy to keep up with posts that weren't one sentence status updates.

So, here I go, a place to comment, observe, ponder life's little joys.

A place where I can jot down interesting, fun, exciting, troublesome, inspiring and joyous things that pop into my head, my heart and my world. (expectedly or un-expected.ly)

Along the way I hope to discover new things about not only myself, but this city; this world.

Live. Laugh. Love.
